I am currently taking nicomide oral and neobenz micro for moderate acne. I've been on these prescriptions for over 2 months and my skin has gotten worse, the acne has become more cystic. I know breakout periods are common with most retinods and some antibiotics, but I really couldn't find much information on nicomide. I know that it is a prescription vitamin that supposedly works as an anti-inflammatory. I called my dermotologist for more information, but all he told me is try it for 3 months and see what happens. Can you give any further insight on this particular drug? How long does it typically take to clear on this medication? Should I be worried that the medicine is not effective at this point? Any insight along these lines would be very appreciated.

When treating acne, due to the need to treat deep down at basal skin layers, it can often take 3 months for any improvement to be seen. So I would try to see how it goes for another month. When acne is very persistant then finding the right treatment does take a lot of patience, and once it does start to work you will need to continue for some time.
