How long with the redness take to heal?
Sent to Health Experts January 07 08:33 PM

I am very fair skinned and I tryed a cream on my face called Porcelana to lighten my acne scars. It has 2% hydroquinone. I put a thin layer of product on the areas with scars, and i wiped it off after an hour or so when i felt slight discomfort. To my horror, my skin had gotten redder wherever the product was applied. I rinsed it with warm water for about 15 minutes and used mild soap. It's been 3 days, and the red has hardly faded. I dont use anything on my face at all now. I look like a pizza. How should I treat this? How long will it take to heal? Am I scarred for life?

I have done nohting but leave my skin alone and hoping it heals. I'm afraid anything will irritate it.

I think you are doing exactly the right thing in just leaving it alone. Try that for at least another day or so. It should fade as the outer layer of skin dies and comes off (a natural process). Pretend it's a sunburn; I've seen bad ones last for up to a week. The instructions for hydroquinone say apply it to a SMALL area of non-obvious skin at first to see if there is a reaction! Most important is to stay out of the sun until it recovers.
