I'am 45 yo/b/f. I am having a bad case of achene to my face this is the first time my face was inflamed and very painfull. I been off work for one week and taking cipro 500mg bid since 2-28-07 and prednisone till today for the swelling and inflimation. My face is still broken very bad. I am feelling very depressed r/t this and I am eating everything in site. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!

could the acne to my face be due to pre-menapause
issues? if so will the medication you recommended work or are there hormones i should be taking? i work in a hospital in an acute long term setting where i am exposed to all types of MRSA Acentobacter etc.. i was initially on doxicycline due to normal acne and was exposed to the sun on a long car trip, which resulted in a photosynthesis reaction. they put me on prednisone and cephalexin which started to clear me up, but when i went to work it came right back and even worse. i have now been off a week and back on the prednisone and cipro which both end tomorrow but i see no results. do you still think your first response is the avenue i should take?

Hello,

As such I am not correlating acne & menopause because average menopause occurs after the age of 50. I feel minocycline & azythromycin have a better result than Cipro. I feel you should go by the above said changes. The idea above is from a senior Dermatologist of our city.
