scar from surgery

Sent to Health Experts August 04 02:03 PM

I had gallbladder surgery a year and a half ago. It wasn't the normal surgery with just the 3 small incisions, they had to make a large 6" incision across my stomache. Anyways when i went in to get the staples out, my DR. told me the scar from the staples and all would eventually disappear. Well they haven't disappeared. I know my body scars differently, where the scars are huge and bulge out. Even where the staples were is all bulged out. Anyways this scar gives me a lot of discomfort, it is so sensative. Sometime just my shirt rubbing against it hurts. And sometimes I just get sharp pains there. I have to be so careful if something comes near it because it hurts. Is this normal??? Can it be fixed? The scarring itself is unbelieveably big and still is just as red today as it was after surgery. I would like to get it reduced somehow. I think someone told me that was cosmetic surgery and insurance wouldnt pay for that. What do you think is wrong, what should i do??
