Question

ER now?

Sent to Health Experts August 09, 2005 11:06 p.m.

My daughter was cut around her ankle by a frayed tie-out cable (metal wire enclosed in a plastic tube). We cleansed immediately with alcohol and she applied Bactine. In the shower she washed with soap and reapplied the Bactine. Today after shower- she applied neosporin. The wound is approx 5 inches long and 1/4 to 1/2 inch wide. It is white in the center, and redness around the laceration is 1/2 to 3/4 inches. It burns even when not touched, when touched-quite painful, and painful when she walks. Do I take her to the ER now, or wait until morning?
