Hi Mallen 1281,
The fact that the palpitations go away after deep breathing indicates that they are not due to any heart problem. There can be various other causes of palpitations-

  • physical exertion or emotional distress
  • various medicines e.g. thyroid medicine, bronchodilators (for asthma), pseudoephedrine (antilarregy medicine), ephedrine (used in diet pills), theophylline (used in asthma)
  • excess of caffeine, tobaco, alcohol, cocaine
  • panic disorder- this is a sudden panic attack precipitated by some situation like darkness, crowd, closed place, height etc.

If you are any of the above mentioned medicines, then talk to the concerned doctor for a substitute. Try to decrease alcohol intake, tobacco or other drugs if you are on any. If you are going through any emotional stress then try to overcome it and divert your attention.

I guess by taking acre of the above factors, the palpitations should go away. As long as your cardiac check up is all right, there is no need to worry.

Well, guess it must be emotional related or thyroid meds. NONE of the other indicators apply to me.
