Question

Elevated liver enzymes in the blood

Sent to Health Experts July 10, 2006 5:18 a.m.

I am a 57 year old male who has drank beer for many years. I also ride bicycles very long distances and am in pretty good shape however my sgot, spot and gamma liver enzymes in the blood are about 3 times the normal range. American Doctors say there is no treatment just abstinence from alcohol. While riding in Cambodia I had my enzymes checked and the Dr. said they were high but gave me Biphenyl Dimethyl Dicarboxylate to take and it claims on the bottle that it reduces these enzymes from alcohol usage. The also gave me "Live-up" a product out of Australia which claims to cleanse the liver. I have not taken either yet and would value your opinion as to the taking of these drugs.
