how to prevent bruising and swelling after eyelid surgery

will undergo upper and lower cosmetic surgery next week and need to be "good to go" back to teaching Sept 4th. Need to minimize bruising and swelling. Thankyou

You need to alternate icing and heat compresses to help reduce the swelling and that will also help to heal the brusing as well. If you lay with your head elevated a little this will allow for better bloodflow that can help to minimize brusing as well. This along with some Ibuprophen for the inflammation this will all be a help to minimizing the bruising and swelling.

Reply to Cheryl K.'s Post: That's pretty common knowledge...How about recommended movement or vitamins before hand or refraining from coffee or wine? I only have a week to prepare

Yes caffeine intake is not advised and vitamins will be a great help. Alcohol is definately not recommended but that is about all you can do beforehand. The things I meantioned above will be the best things to try after the surgery and even some cuccumber slices on the eyes afterward will help reduce swelling and inflammation as well.
