hi,

I am sorry to say but alcohol is bad for pregnant mothers even if its just wine.It can cause a syndrome called FAS in babies and may cause still birth or miscarriages.

You can get more information on it here http://members.aol.com/creaconinc/fas.html

Though the chances of retardation or birth defect in a case as yours is about one in five. But I would ask you to concentrate on the other four chances where no defect has been found.

Keep your mind in a positive frame and avoid all the toxic substances be it caffeine or smoking and try moderate exercising that is permissible.

Eat fresh fruits and vegetables avoid refined food.

Drink lots of water about 10-12 glasses/day.

Practise meditation and suggest your mind that everything is going to be alright.Be positive and may be everything will go well.

Do go for ultra sound and regular checkups as and when required.Hope this has been useful and you are welcome to ask more doubts is any.

Reply to haloprecious's Post: I realize that alcohol is babd for expecting mothers. I have been taking good care of myself eg vitimins water etc. But this fear cannot be good for me or for the baby. There have to be other mothers out there who have been in this position and their baby's were fine. I am so scared about this that I cannot think of anything else. Is 16 weeks too early to tell if any damage has been done?? The heartbeat has been good 158-164 and the doctor says that my uterus feels soft like it should. I am just so worried.
