Hello

Following diet is recommended for patients of crohn's disease:

1.Drink lots of water to keep body hydrated and prevent constipation

2.Eat a high fiber diet when IBD is under control.

3.During active phase of disease , take less amount of high fiber foods and follow a low fiber diet

4. Reduce excessive fat intake.

5. Take low sugar in diet & drinks.

6.. Caffine & alcohol should be taken in limits.

7. Eat fish (3.5 to 7 ounces per day) instead of chicken, beef, or pork:

8. Zinc: 25-50 mg per day, balanced with 2-4 mg per day of copper is beneficial.

9..Limit gas-producing foods such as cabbage-family vegetables

10..Take nutrious fresh fruits .

11.Supplementation of Vitamin D prevents bone loss in Crohn's patients

12.Fish oil decreases the inflammation.

Reply to Doctor_Manju's Post: What about weight gain - can she eat bakery sans high sugar - chocolate cake, etc., to fatten her up. What about a general vitamin supplement. She is extremely tired also. TY
