What can cause an extreme spike in blood pressure?

What perscription drugs, foods, or vitamins could cause a spike in blood pressure?
While Taking blood pressure medication can excessive drinking cause blood pressure to drop dangerously low?
I am asking for my brother in law who I have noticed his blood pressure spikes, he is on medication and drinks to much.

Do you know the numbers of how high your brother-in-law's blood pressure spikes? How often is he measuring it? What medication is he taking, and do you know the dosages? Please give more specific information and I can more accurately answer your questions. How much alcohol does he drink and how often?
