Shirley asked me to take a look at your question.

Obviously garlic is the FIRST thing that comes to mind (it may be in many prepared foods as "natural flavorings" or "spices") and even in very small amounts can cause bad breath.

Selenium (in many vitamin/mineral supplements) can also cause "garlic breath"

My recommendation for people with strange odors - is to eliminate all creams, lotions, potions, supplements, and see if the odor resolves. If it resolves you add back one at a time and monitor for the odor.

I had a young patient (nursing student) who was being accused of having alcohol on her breath at clinical sites - and repeated blood alcohols were negatve. I had her bring in EVERY pill/shampoo etc that she had used. Here breath did indeed smell like stale beer - and when we sniffed her pills - I found that her Gingko supplement smelled like the odor. When eliminated - so did the odor.
