I have a question about zoloft and alcohol...I have been on zoloft for 9 years (i'm 25) and I do drink moderately 2 or 3 drinks once or twice a week. Yesterday however I had a couple extra drinks and feel really bad about it today...I hope I have not given myself brain damage...i had 5 drinks or so....I do the best i can to limit my drinking while taking an antidepressant but it is difficult because alcohol is such a part of or society especially for people my age. Do you think that yesterdays extra drinks would cause permanent brain changes/damage?

u2crew,

According to the drug manufacturer, you can use alcohol, but it states to use it cautiously. According to the manufacturer, alcohol may increase drowsiness or dizziness while taking Zoloft. Other references state that alcohol should be avoided, as it can increase some of the side effects.
