Reply to Dr. Steve's Post: The question I posed was not as exact as I wanted. The person in question died suddenly in the Am, vomiting profusely. Did not have any breakfast. He was a heavy drinker, consuming two bottles of wine every day for probably 20 years. he had gained a lot of weight and had a bloated belly. Emergency team could not revive him. Ijust wanted to know if death from cirrhosis could be this sudden. Thanks,

Answer:

In the scenario you describe--it sounds like that person died of heart failure, or cardiac arrest. But it certainly sounds like he had severe Cirrhosis [end-stage liver disease], which could then lead to Liver Failure. Peolple can die from Acute Liver Failure--though typically it takes days to weeks to die from that process.

Hope this helps--let me know.
