sudden hacking cough, running nose, i'm pretty sure i have a fever, but haven't taken temp--face flush. other than that today i feel better but was completely out of commission Sunday and some of Monday....however throat now getting pretty sore, cough persisting intermittently

Your symptoms are not those of influenza - see link below - but they are consistent with a viral upper respiratory tract infection.

Acetaminophen and ibuprofen will help with your pain.

If you become short of breath or develop pains in your chest when breathing then you will need to see a Dr.

The symptoms of inflenza are severe - very prominent headache , muscle pains and patients usually feel so ill that they cannot get out of bed.

can you get something like this due to environmental conditions like being in some one's home with cats that doesn't clean very often.
