I have a 2 year old that is sick all of the time... he spikes his temp from regular 98 degree to 103 or 104... my doctors seem to say it is just a cold or allergies, he has had pneumonia twice in his life. My instinct is telling me that there is something else wrong. Can you please help? He has been on meds pretty much his whole life... he is miserable... I feel helpless.

Optional Information:
Male , Age: 2

Already Tried:
Everything, he has been on allergy meds, antibiotics, I just want to know what is going on.

Kids do get sick a lot and some kids more than others. If you are concerned, when your son is well, have the doc run a complete blood work up on him. In the meantime there are some things you can do to boost his immune system.

Viral illnesses such as colds and flu may be helped by taking Sambucol. The site is www.sambucol.com   Read the label for doses - there is the well, preventive dose and the intensive, already sick dose. He should take it for 6 weeks and then take 2 weeks off before resuming again. This seems to be helping my toddler. It will not help bacterial infections.   And you should ask the doc before giving it to him just to be safe.

Toddlers are known to be picky eaters. Does he take a multi-vitamin?   Animal Parade is a great vit for kids and tastes good too. Mine love it. Here's a link http://www.evitamins.com/product.asp?pid=295

I would also give him a little extra vit C everyday for the allergies and frequent illnesses. Animal Parade also makes a good, tasty vit C.   If he's taking the multi-vit with breakfast then I would give the vit C after lunch or afternoon snack. He only needs to take one of these if he's well and two if he's sick.

You may also consider working with a nutritionist to rule out allergies to foods that may be causing cold-like symptoms. He could do a rotation diet and the nutritionist can help him have a healthier diet as well.

I hope he feels better.

I would get the blood work done then. That will tell you how his immune system is functioning and his internal organs as well. Be sure he is well when you have it done or the white blood cell count may be high. This may give you more answers. Some kids do get sick alot. What do you fear it may be if anything? Kids who have allergies tend to get sick more often as well.

the doctors tell me that there is no need for blood work but he goes in today and i am going to demand it...
I am not sure what I fear... I just know that he is my life, My sister lost her son 12 hours after he was born... so I am extremely cautious with my son!
Thanks for your help. I hope that I get answers today!
