Question

I' have severe allergies and for the last several

Sent to Health Experts February 04, 2006 8:19 p.m.

I' have severe allergies and for the last several months I've had so much drainage that I get a lump in my throat that gags me and at times causes me to vomit. I've been to my family physician and been on antibiotics twice, it clears up while I'm on them, but only for a few days, then progressively gets worse once again until I'm back to the point of not being able to sleep at nights or eat again. What does it sound like to you? And what should I do? Worried.
p.s. I take allergy meds religiously.

Your physician can take a culture of the drainage from your nose and run test on it to pinpoint a specific bacteria or virus. I would also see about changing your allergy meds. The most important thing is to keep a log and try to see if you can notice any specific "triggers" that make your allergies act up.
