It sounds like one of his lymph glands is swollen which can be a sign of injury or infection. It does sound like a sign of infection but if he is also having headaches as well that can be a sign of neurological damage so it would be best to have him seen unless he suffers from allergies that can also cause headaches. In most cases the lymph nodes heal theirselves but if not and other symptoms arise it is best to be seen for an examination and most likely a round of antibiotics.
