I have horrible allergies and am wondering if I can take Benadryl and still breastfeed. Thank you!

Hello,

The manufacturer considers diphenhydramine to be contraindicated during breast feeding . If this medication is essential to your health, your doctor may advise you to discontinue breastfeeding until your treatment with Benadryl is finished.

Thank you. I would have hoped for other medication suggestions. Also, I am embarassed to admit that I had to ask what contraindicated means. I regret to accept this one. Thank you very much, though.
