My six year old son has been hoarse for 2 months. Last month he has scarlet fever he is better with that now. He had the rash and peeled and everything was on a antibiotic. I was wondering if maybe his hoarsness could be related to the strep or is it maybe allergies. He said his throat doesn't hurt.

Hi,

Hoarseness for 2 months is a bit much. If h has recently had strep throat then this may be the cause. It can take up to a couple weeks to get back to normal.

I am concerned with allergy's as well, and would advise you to have the paediatrician check his throat out and make sure there is no underlying problem causing the issues. They can also determine then if it is allergies or a after effect from his illness.

For now warm teas and soups will help as well as using a humidifier in his bedroom to keep things moist. I would go ahead and call his pediatrician this morning and see if you can set up a appointment.
