Lactic acid is a normal by-product of metabolism if there is not enough oxygen around. It is one of the causes of the work-out "burn". I'm not sure there is such a thing as lactic acid allergy. Your girlfriend may be confused as to the cause of her allergy or she may have other reasons for not wanting to swallow.
