Hello,

I think this your symptoms are due to a radiculopathy.

This means a compression of the exiting nerve roots as they come out of the spinal cord.

This is most likely to occur because of an intervertebral disc bulge or a herniation in the cervical spine.

This intertebral disc is compressing on thenerves and causing numbness and tingling along the distribution of the nerve.

This can be confirmed by doing a MRI of the cervical spine.

You need to visit an orthopedician for evaluation and management.

Management would depend on the degree of the herniation / bulge, ranging from physiotherapy to minimally invasive disc surgery.

I hope this gives you insight about your condition.

Regards,

Dr.Joshi.

I have a history of lower back pain and have had it for years. When I was 35 I was diagnosed with arthritis in my back. I realize that the back condition has gotten worse as the only way I relieve the pain is by curling up into the fetal position. I guess the new thing in the left arm is related to problems in my back. Thank you for your answer, I will seek the attention of an orthopedic, which I already have because of torn cartilge in my right shoulder. The wooos of getting old I guess.
