I HAVE HAD A RINGWORM ON MY ARM AND LEG THT KEEP GOING ...

Sent to Health Experts March 06 1:06 p.m.

I HAVE HAD A RINGWORM ON MY ARM AND LEG THT KEEP GOING FROM RED TO WHITE. I HAVE TAKEN FOUR DOSES(1 PILL A WEEK) OF DIFLUCAN AND IT IS STILL NOT GONE. BUT MAINLY MY CONCERN IS THAT I FEEL LIKE I HAVE SOMETHING ON MY FACE. I HAVE DARKER SPOTS AND A WEIRD FILM ON MY SKIN AND AT TIMES IT EVEN HAS A GREEN HUE TO IT. I ALSO HAVE THIS IN MY EYELASHES AND EYEBROWS. IT IS SOMETHING THAT IS LIKE A GLUE THAT MAKES THEM STICK TOGETHER AND TO MY SKIN. I KNOW THERE HAS TO BE AN EXPLANATION FOR THIS BECAUSE IT JUST IS NOT THE SAME AS IT USED TO BE. I HAVE EVEN PUT LAMISIL ON MY FACE . IF IT MAKES ANY DIFFERENCE I JUST FOUND BLACK MOLD IN MY WINDOWS OF MY APARTMENT TOO. BUT THIS STUFF ON MY SKIN HAS BEEN GOING ON ABOUT SIX TO EIGHT MONTHS. ANY SUGGESTIONS OR IDEAS OF WHAT IT COULD BE OR WHAT I MIGHT DO?

Hello

Since the rash has not gone even with such extensve anti-fungal treatment, it is unlikely to be due to ringworm.

The film that you see on the face could be a buildup of dead skin cells, especially since it also occurs on the eyebrows and eyelashes. A greenish hue occurs when there is secondary bacterial infection.

Black mold generally does not affect the skin - the commonest symptoms are respiratory problems like dry cough, difficulty in breathing etc.

It would be best if you consulted a dermatoloist - you need to get scrappings of the skin examined in a lab for an accurate diagnosis. Six to eight months is a long time to go without a specific treatment.

I hope this helps.

if they take a skin scraping does the lab test for certain things or do they have a test that lets them know what it is? what if the lab doesnt run the right tests?

The lab will run tests for various types of bacterial, fungal and parasitic infections. It will also test for inflammatory cells around the hair follicles to diagnose conditions like folliculitis. It is unlikely that it will miss anything.
