Question

What could this be?

Sent to Health Experts July 14, 2005 4:09 p.m.

My girlfriend has a lump under her left armpit. It is about the size of a quarter and has been there for 2 months. The doctor felt it and said it was either a boil or a cyst. But since then it is sometimes very painful. She says the middle of her chest hurts and she has pain and numbness running down her left arm and hand, especially her thumb. What might this be? She has body pain often and after numerous hospital visits, although no tests have been ran, they just tell her that its all caused by bad sinuses and gives her decongestants and naproxen. Once they even said it was corticosteroiditis. But it never goes away. Will she live miserable forever? Or might these symptoms be some other problem? Please help! We would greatly appreciate it.

Hi Cotton

The symptoms could be another problem. If this current doctor is not helping her, she might want to find another doctor for a second opinion.

Best wishes,

Kerry

Iwanted to know if these were symptoms of other disorders. We cannot afford to keep running up bills for no reason. Your answer was not very helpful since we have already sought third and fourth opinions to no avail, but thanks anyway.
