Question

What muscles and bones are involved in lifting a pail of water?

Sent to Health Experts December 10, 2005 12:14 a.m.

Peer discussion. Joe Blow, is right handed, is walking up the hill with a 40% incline with a 4 gallon pail of water which he will pour in a fish pond. The anatomy of the arm and elbow appears to use ALL the muscles and joints from the shoulder down to lift, carry and dump the water. However, we are "cussing/discussing" where the main pressure points are located and whether the medial or lateral points of the left elbow are most affected by the weight and which muscle carrys the weight. Also how does the location of the fulcrum change from carrying to pouring?
