pm6272,
There is very little treatment done for simple broken ribs. If the ribs are simply painful and she is not coughing up any blood or finding it hard to breathe then two to three weeks should see any fracture healing nicely. If however she is having any worrying symptoms such as these or start to cough up discoloured spit, she should get checked out by her doctor. She may apply heat to the injury to help relieve pain. Use a warm heating pad, whirlpool bath, or warm, moist towels. She may use over-the-counter pain-killers such as aspirin, acetaminophen, or ibuprofen.
