My granddaught who is 21 months old broke her arm last Friday. She has been taking a pain med with codine that was prescribed. She now is extremely constipated. She will nto drink prune juice and is in pain when she tries to have a bowel movement. What can we do for her. Thank you

Not since Saturday. She had a tiny hard stool about an hour ago. Very small and very hard. She had a terrible time just getting that small amount.

I would go ahead and start her on the water now and I would also go ahead and put a call into her doctor too. (They are on call after hours) he may want to call in something for her to help her faster. It may take 24-36 hours or so by the diet change. Plus with you saying she's not comfortable, and with this being caused by the medication, she may need a little help with medication to get some pressure off.
