Sometimes, a child might describe the tingling that results when an arm or leg "goes to sleep" this way. However, if this doesn't just happen when he may have temporarily cut off the circulation or put pressure on a nerve, this would be a neuralgia, although the cause would have to be determined by a pediatric neurolotist. Make sure, though, that he isn't just having the problem when he rests his elbows on an armrest or desk, for instance.
