I have a swollen lymph gland under my right arm and now the lymph gland on the right side of my neck is starting to swell. I am 34 yrs. old, Female, I am not sick but do suffer from seasonal allergies and have had some drainage and ear popping on my right side the last few days. Can allergies cause lymph glands to swell? Should I be concerned?

Reply to Alexander Irvine's Post: Under arm woke up with yesterday, neck just started today. No other swollen glands. Under arm gland is soft, tender to the touch. Neck gland also soft, not as tender. I haven't had any infections, but do sometimes get sinus infections. Breasts have no lumps and no soreness.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Lymph glands are part of our immune system and from your description yours have become active which usually means you have an infection somewhere usually in a structure adjacent to the gland involved.

This enlargement is therefore quite normal and represents a normally functioning immune system.

I'd be totally unconcerned about this and advise you to wait and see what happens.
Most glands in this situation shrink back to their normal size spontaneously.

If the glands persist (> 1/12) or grow in size , especially if "rubbery" or "hard" see your family Dr for a physical exam and some basic blood work.

Hope This helps.
