This could be headache related; which tension headaches are due to contraction (tightness) of the muscles in your shoulders, neck, scalp area. Which could be muscle related, nerve related. If there is a pinched or entrapped nerve, this can cause what you are feeling as well. So when you lie down you are pressing on this nerve.

You can try a moist warm compress on the area and taking some ibuprofen for any inflammation. Also, try sleeping on a firm mattress without a pillow and see if this helps.

If there is no change in the next day or so or this gets worse, I would see your doctor for proper in person evaluation.

If you get any numbness, tingling, or weakness in your arm or hand etc, I would be seen in the ER right away. Or if the pain becomes more severe and is not responding to any of the above.

Best of luck Hun, Hope this helps, If you need anything else please feel free to ask. If you found this helpful don’t forget to click the *Accept* button.
