I fractured my wrist on 9-24 while biking.

I fractured my wrist on 9-24 while biking. It was a pretty bad fracture, and I am in a long arm cast at this time. I am wanting to work out on the eliptical walker, however, I feel the arm swelling inside the cast. Is this doing more damage (can't think of a better word here) than good?

Dear Customer (name blocked for privacy),

That's an awful long time to be in a cast! Using the elliptical walker COULD aggravate the arm especially if you are gripping the hand grip too tight. If you have noticed it swelling, you should contact your doctor. Watch for color changes, numbness, or tingling in the fingers as these are signs of decreased circulation due to swelling.

Perhaps in the meantime you can alter your exercise routine to exclude using the affected arm until you are healed to prevent further damage.

Dear Customer (name blocked for privacy),

Gotcha....A June injury makes more sense! Watch for the things I mentioned earlier such as numbness, tingling, decreased sensation, or change in color which can indicate signs of diminished circulation. Keep the arm elevated above your heart to decrease swelling and try to wiggle your fingers regularly to prevent stiffness. Take it easy on that elliptical walker....don't use your affected arm. Try some ibuprofen for pain and swelling.
