My brother woke up on Friday with a golf ball size ...

My brother woke up on Friday with a golf ball size lump on the inside crease of his left arm. He went to the Emergeny Room and they lanced the lump, gave him intervenous antibiotics, rapped the would and sent him home. Today (Sunday) he went back to the emergeny room because it appeared that the redness was traveling and his arm was warm and tender to the touch. There are no symptoms such as itching. He just called me and said that they are going to admit him to the hospital. Nobody knows if it is an insect bite or a scratch gone bad. They are doing extensive blood work. Do you have any thoughts as to what it MIGHT be?

Was the lump reddish ,hot, tender,at the start(on friday)?

Just to clarify Was incision and drainage done with gauze packing?

Reply to Dr AMIT MUNJAL's Post: after they lanced it they did not put a drain in. The lump was a deep cherry purple red
