Sent to Health Experts August 06, 2006 11:53 p.m.

This is going to sound strange (at least it does to me), but I seem to have very bad body odor only in one arm pit. I shower every day and use deordant, but my left arm pit always stinks terribly by the time I go to bed. The right one doesn't smell at all. I have no idea why this is, do you?

Optional Information:
Female , Age: 60

Already Tried:
Nothing except bathing and deordant.

Hello

Sweating is the body's biological way of relieving heat, and

while sweat itself does not have an odour, it is a wonderful

culture medium for the bacteria that normally live on our skin

and which break it down into aromatic fatty acids. Now there

arise two possibilities of unilateral odour.

1)More number of sweat Glands in skin of left armpit.

2)Bacterial infection in skin of left arm pit.

As I said, I'm 60 years old. This is a recent problem, not one that I have had for years so I doubt that I've recently grown more sweat glands under my left arm. Besides, I don't sweat that much. I live in a pretty mild climate and I use and antiprespirant. I also doubt there is an infection going on. Do you have any other ideas?
