We live in Niamey Niger. My two year old son came down with a fever of 103 F on the 15th. He complained of a headache and sore throat. He also did not want anyone to touch him. During the night he slept very restlessly and we used Ibuprofine and Tylonol (Childrens) to bring down the fever. In the morning it appeared that he did not want to use his right arm and that his whole body was incredibly sensitive to touch. We took him to a clinic where they took blood and said that he does not have malaria, we are still waiting the rest of the blood count. The doctor also looked at his arm and at that time he was more free to move it however on returning home he again begain to refuse to move his arm, cried at any slight touch of his body and a rash of small red splotches has covered him completely except for his head. Even his eyes have gone bloodshot. His joints also appear to be inflamed. These all lead me to think that he may possibly have dengue fever.
