I have a few questions,
What was the original problem that your friend had that made it difficult to swallow?
Were there other problems like dificulty with arm and leg movement?
Had he been sick for long before this?
How old is he?

What medicines has he been getting since he was admitted?
Does he have family that perhaps has been able to get more information than the staff is able to give to you?

These will help me to sort out some of the details about his overall illness and treatment.

I will be working at the hospital tomorrow, so it may be late when I come back, but other experts will benefit from your answers and perhaps they will step in so you don't have to wait for me!

I work in an ICU and have been there for 33 years. So I would like to be able to help you sort out the confusing things that are happening.

He was unable to swallow and lost 50 lbs in only a few weeks. He had an accident while driver and really could not remember the details. He then went to the hospital one week ago in Paducah KY where the doctors are unable to find out the cause. They were trying to get him into Vanderbilt in Nashville TN but he has since had Kidney failure and can't be transported. The doctors first thought it could be a stroke but now are not sure. The man is approx. 58 and works for my husband. To my knowledge the doctors are not treating him with medication because they do not know what they are treating.
Thanks
