Question

Shoulder pain/osteolysis

Sent to Health Experts September 18, 2006 8:14 a.m.

For the past 2 yrs I have been experiencing shoulder pain. The pain fluxuates in intensity, depending upon how often I use my arm to lift or do light work. Sometimes, when I put a shirt or jacket on, I feel a "snapping" in the joint and a sharp pain is experienced and lingers for quite some time afterwards. I do not recall any significant event in which I injured my shoulder, it just started hurting and has gotten progressively worse. Occassionally, the pain goes down my arm and my hand actually tingles and may go numb. I have been to a heart specialist, and heart problem has been ruled out. Also, sometimes the pain is very similar in the elbow of the same arm. Only after I use my arm a lot does the pain become extreme and then I feel like I should see a dr. Otherwise, when the pain is not so bad, I just ignor it. Recently a friend was diagnosed with osteolysis and he said my symptoms are exactly what he was experiencing. What do you think? And I do thank you for your response.

Hello,

In my opinion this is a case of cervical spondylosis, i therefore recommand X-Ray examination of cervical spine anterior view and lateral view.
