I have been an RN for about 20 years and I'm having a problem and hope you can help. Let me explain. 3 days ago I started with bil legs itching really severe I thought it was from sitting outside the night before and getting bite up by bugs. When I pulled up my pant leg it was really red and rashed with welps. Then my left arm did the same thing. Before I could go to the store and get Benadryl and Caladry it had gone away. That evening my right arm did the same thing. I took a benadryl and by the time it could work it went away again. Now today accross my shoulders in the back same thing. It appears to itch awful sometime whelp and then sometimes before it disapears it just looks like a "mean" case of measles. Within 30 mins its gone. I have been reading shingles and other things. I have a irritated throat but not really sore. About a week ago I felt like I had a fever and wake up sweating but I didn't feel hot on the outside. I'm 48 and just thought it was hormone changes :) It looks like a allergic reaction but why would it go away and come back. I can't think of any changes in food or detergent. I keep a headache so thats nothing new either. What would come and go like that? If it continued to itch like when it first appears I would have been to the MD but I think well it's gone so why bother and then it will pop up again somewhere else and stay about 30 mins and go completely away. My mom was with me today and when I showed her how it did she said she wouldn't have believed me if she hadn't seen it with her own eyes. Please let me know what you think the disappearing and reappearing whelps/rash/itching could be off and on my arms, legs, stomach, upper back. It hasn't gotten on my face or hands yet. Thanks. It's driving me nuts :) XXXXX@XXXXXX.XXX

it is difficult to know without looking at it...my feeling is that u may be having uriticaria or an allergic response...some people develop uritcaria in response to cold, hot, water, etc and it is bascially a allergic reaction. it may also be due to drugs or some type of allergy..at least that is my guess as i am unable to see your lesions..perhaps u can take a pic with a digital camera and post it..if that is the case, then u have done the right treatment..benadryl and an anti histamine, to prevent the itch, apply come lotion and use moisturizer

if the problem does recur, then it is best to see a dermatologist
hope this helps
