Question

Sensitive Skin

Sent to Health Experts October 14, 2006 1:13 p.m.

My 5 years granchild has a very sensitive skin. She had 4 months ago a strong allergie, but I found on her thigh as if some insect maybe a bee stinged her, and last for one week or so... after that I don't know if I'm right but her skin wasn't the same, maybe the poison still there or something like. Anyways, her skin now is very sensitive if it is touched for anything . She didn't have any allergie until now. If I hug her or hold her arm with a little pressure it turn read.... I don't know if there is some condiction or some name for it.Other thing, she was diagnoticad w/ autism (Sperger's Sydrome) it is not
severe , but I don't know if it is linked with that conditions. I read something about it
and my daugther doesn't accept my opinion. Please help me, isn't easy to get a allergie test because she behaves very strong.

Give me some orientation about it... wich the best doctor to look for. I live in Miami Beach, FL

Thank you very much

Sofia

Hi Sofia--I can understand your concern. I believe an insect (eg-bee; wasp; spider) DID sting her, leaving its TOXIN inside-->this can lead to the 'sensitive skin' that you so describle. Please take har to a Dermatologist: they can do a skin exam & lab tests to confrim this; and then RX the appropriate meds to get her skin to heal faster.

Hope this helps,

-Dr. Steve
