Reply to Dr Amit Munjal's Post: no discoloration(redness);doesn't feel warm; no fever; no other lymph areas noted to be swollen; she noticed it last evening while doing homework and brought it to my attention; very tender when I palpate it; size: 1-2 lima beans? just below where her underarm hair is; feels soft; no noted pus or area of a bite mark; haven't been to doctor; she says it's about the same as last evening

Hi,

There are about 5 groups of lymph node in the axillary area .

Lymph node can enlarge in response to a infection also .

WIth an acute history of pain and swelling apart from local tenderness further evaluation is needed to rule out infecious cause of the swelling .

She may need some blood work like Hb,TLC,DLC,ESR for further evaluation apart from local clinical examination .

Reply to Dr Amit Munjal's Post: she also had a recent injury to her face; about 1 1/2 weeks ago she suffered 3 fractures of her R maxillary sinus from a head to the cheek during a soccer game. The lump is under the opposite arm; do you think there could be any association due to the trauma; she had no intracranial bleed; she had the fracture and some bleeding into the maxillary sinus, but that has subsided; the swelling in that area has resovled about 90%; still has some numbness along her upper teeth; we have been to a dentist and ENT for follow up; I was just wondering if there could be any connection between the two
