Question

What causes the feet and legs to swell?

Sent to Health Experts September 12, 2005 10:21 a.m.

I have had problems with diahrea for the past 6 years. I have been diagnosed with diverticulitis. I have minor arthritis in my neck and back and fingers. I just started working at Wal-Mart and standing on my feet for 8 hours at a time. My feet are swelling to more than double the size around my ankles and calves. I have soaked in epson salt and tried to figure out what is causing this. I have used a lot of sugar in my life. Like 6 teaspoons of sugar in a cup of coffee. I have tried to cut down. I have always worried that I may become a diebetic. That is why I'm asking about my feet. I was wondering if my feet swelling was a sign that I'm becoming diebetic or something else? My feet and legs have been swollen for 5 days now and they don't go down on my day off or at night when I'm at home. What can I do?
