pain eat eating

I'm 59 and I've got a couple of things I'm concerned with. No. 1 is little energy and No. 2 is torso weight. I'm not a big eater - eating is not an obscession. I eat small portions of meat, potatoes, bread, hardly any pasta & rice and more veggies and few fruits because I don't desire fruits at all. I don't pig out on any meal but I still have mid section weight problems - legs and arms trim and in good muscular shape - have large belly, enormo breasts, butt and the beginning of thunder thighs. I also have post polio syndrome and severe osteo arthritis so exercising is difficult. Could my weight problem be due to an underactive thyroid. I had heard that Menopausal women often have thyroid problems.   Could I possibly need to take vitamins to get more energy? I think the pain in my knees (3 ops including knee replacement) keep me subdued when it comes to exercise. Any advice or can you give me some direction in this matter.
