Question

What does the swelling sound like and what should I do to remidy?

Sent to Health Experts October 14, 2006 10:17 a.m.

I have swelling on the inside of my foot. At first I thought it was an insect bite but it has been a few weeks and the swelling is still there and is starting to really hurt. I have changed shoes although I am on my feet quite a bit at work. My shoe does cover the swelled area. The swelling is located in two areas on the same foot just below my ankle but above the arch. My husband thinks it is a late reaction to the Prednisone that I was on for nearly 10 years for Ulcerative colitis and ITP. Am off this now. Any ideas what could cause this? I also have sore wrists and fingers.

The swelling is not in the joint area. It is in the fleshy part of the foot.

ACCEPTED Check Mark

Hello,

Since only one foot fleshy part involved it is usually arthritis or gout. Please see a Rheumatologist .
