Eczema

Sent to Health Experts January 05 11:53 AM

I think my daughter has eczema, however it is only present in the summer. Recently a child at her daycare was diagnosed with Ring Worm. I looked at a few pictures of ring worm and it looks so similiar to her eczema. I had a doctor tell me her skin irritation was eczema, now I’m not so sure. Like I said it is only present in the summer months and when she has it, it is very bad. If it flares up again this coming summer they will put her on a oral steroid. Are there any other alternatives? She has been on the steroid creams for the entire last summer and she hates it because it makes her skin burn and itch even more. Thank you so very much!

Dear jules,
If ringworm is what your daughter had, it would not go away in the winter and then return. But if you think that it still might be, you can try an over the counter antifungal cream like lotriman (I believe that is spelled correctly?), and you will see a difference in about a week. If not it probably is eczema, and you might ask her doctor if there are any other treatment methods you might try as your daughter is telling you that her current treatment is hurting her more.
I hope this has helped some.
Good luck.

Thank-You,
and May God Bless.
