my 29 yr old friend has episodes in which she coughs hard ...

my 29 yr old friend has episodes in which she coughs hard and sometimes some blood will be in the sputum. This can occur in the day, but also at night whe will wake up and be coughing and then unable to sleep. Could asthma be a couse or possibly someithing pulminary? One her her feet also swells sometimes. She is still able to exercise    Could anxiety cause this? She has a lot on her mind due to her upcoming wedding in Cotober.
TB has been ruled aout and she has had test for cner- negative She has not been to a specialist. ANy suggestions? I am worried.
