What causes pain in the breastbone, shoulderblades and pain to breathe all at the same time? I have CHF and my Cardiologisr has never told me what is causing the pain in the shoulder blades and between my breasts. At the same time, I am not short of breath, but it hurts to breathe. Why?

This can be caused by chest wall pain which will hurt your chest or it could be pleurisy which is fluid build-up in the lungs and can hurt into the back as well. It will not cause shortness of breath but it will cause pain when you use your chest and back muscles to breath and move. When you lie down and are in a prone position it can actually stretch these muscles and that is why standing is more comfortable.

Reply to Cheryl K.'s Post: I don't accept this answer because my I already stated that i have a Cardiologist and he couldn't answer me and of course he has checked out the lungs and I have been told there is no fluid in my lungs.
