back pain when i wake up

Sent to Health Experts January 16 03:01 PM

I have back pain every time I wake up in the morning. The pain goes away after I am up moving around for awile. As long as I stay in bed, the pain continues. Do you know what this pain is? What can I do to get rid of it? Do I need to drink more water? (I can't pay a lot, but I think your answer is worth $1000s)

Hi,

Where is the pain located? Lower back, upper? Also, do you have any other symptoms of pain? And although it helps to assist by making the payment, you not obligated to pay for any help.

Please answer, and I will try my best to assist you.

Reply to Cheryl's Post: The pain is in my lower back. It feel like it takes over my whole body, the pain is so great. That is the whole pain. About an hour after I wake up it goes away. If I spend the day in bed the pain lasts the whole time that I am in bed. Any ideas? I saw a doctor about it and she gave me some pain killers.   The pain killers did not help, and I did not like taking them.

Hello,

It could likely be from a "slipped disc", which is an excruciating back pain with severe back muscle spasm.
It is usually so bad that any sort of movement, coughing or straining will trigger intense pain.
As you awake and move about, the joints natural lubrication will lesson the symptoms of the pain, but often the situation will continue to happen repeatedly.

Your best bet is to see a chiropractor or you family physician to rule this out as a possible cause.

Recovery depends on treatment, which as in most cases, will vary in each person.

I hope this helps you out, you could try "moist heat"- or "cold compresses" to help to aleviate the pain, but some do not respond to that, so I still recommend you see you Doctor to be safe, and get the proper ruling.

Take care, and good luck with everything...

Reply to Cheryl's Post: No, it is not a slipped disc. My mother had that and that does not go away after an hour, but lasts all day. It is not as painful as that either. Maybe there is a doctor out there who could answer this question. Could you forward this conversation to him or her? Thanks.
