It can take up to 6 weeks for antidepressants to work at their full potential, although many of these drugs show positive results much earlier. No two people react the same to ever medication, and some are ineffective in certain people. I would question whether or not you need an altogether different antidepressant with your doctor. It is important not to stop taking the medication until you see your doctor again on Thursday. You are not alone, as many people try several medications before they find the one that works for them. If your depression worsens between now and then or you feel suicidal, call your local 911 for assistance, as some depressive episodes need immediate intervention.
