I have been taking birth control pills for 3 years.

I have been taking birth control pills for 3 years. Estostep and now I take Seasonale. 1 year ago I had a migraine. One symptom was that my peripheral view was messed up. I recently switched insurance. My new dr. said she wouldn't write me a perscription for Seasonale due to my 1 migraine a year ago. No dr. before told me I couldn't take birth control. Is it really that big of a risk of a stroke? I've only had one migraine my whole life. If it is that big of a risk, what are my alternatives for birth control besides condoms or anything that is semi-permanent (lasts for more than 3 months)? Thanks
