Sent to Health Experts May 02, 2006 5:21 p.m.

For the past month or so I have been haveing symptoms of being pregnant. I just had my period last week, but it was really light and never filled a tampon. This week everytime i go the bathroom, or even during the day it seems like i'm spotting or something. I took a pregnancy test today, the test came back negative, the blue line was very light. I did just start taking Tri-orthocyclen on sunday, I have been birth control for over an year now. My question is Could i be pregnant? Why am i getting these symptoms if i'm not?

I just want to confirm from your question; You have been off birth control for a year and just started taking them again Sunday?

No I have been on Allese (not sure if that is how you spell it) For over an year, The doctor switched my birth control to Tri-ortho that i just started taking Sunday. I was switch because of headaches since last August. My symptoms are Nausea (on and off through out the day), tired more often, hungry (then feeling sick) after eatting, breast tenderness (over an month), resently cramping in the stomaic area...

I would say it would be due to the pills if you have not been feeling this way for a month now. It may have been that the old BCP's were not working well for you. But starting the new Orthro on Sunday is a bit to early to feel symptoms of those pills like that. I would highly suggest having a blood test to confirm if you are or are not pregnant at this point, especially with it being a month and the spotting. It may be hormonal from the Old BC not working perhaps, but just to rule out, please do a pregnancy test. Other wise, if the blood test comes back Neg- for pregnancy, then wait a month and see how you feel on these new pills. (If the hormones were not enough or too strong--then it can cause havoc on your body) but do try to get in tomorrow to see about a blood test.

Hope this helps, If you need anything else please feel free to ask. If you found this helpful don’t forget to click the *accept* button!

So, your saying that I might still be pregnant?Even though the pregnacny test(at home) that I took today read negative. What can a blood test do for you that a pregnancy test can't do for you?

It is possible only because a home test is not 100% accurate.. A blood test will detect if there is any hCG (which is a hormone that is present when one gets pregnant) so a blood test will detect this and if it does detect this how much there is of this hCG in your body) which is much more accurate than any home test out there. If a home test is not done right, or if the first morning urine is not used or if the test had expired, etc. can all give false readings.. so to confirm those results you got, is always best to verify via a blood test.

Relist: I want a different opinion.
I just would like another opinion. Before I figure out what I should do.
