My husband just surprised me with a trip to Hawaii in 2 weeks. The problem is I will get my period the day after we arrive. I have small fibroid tumors so I bleed very heavily for three or four days with severe cramping. Is there any way I can alter the start of my period? I only have 2 weeks! If I start birth control pills now, would that help?

I would make an appointment with your GYN to determine if you would be a candidate to utilize the BC pill to delay your period until you return from Hawaii.

Hi, Your doctor can prescribe to you a hormone pill called Norethisterone. You start this pill 2 or 3 days before your due period and you stop it when you want to get your period. Your period will begin 2 or 3 days after you stop the pill.
